21 Jul Hike the Pilot Knob Roadless Area with CHC on July 25
July 21, 2015 –
Join CHC’s Executive Director Jim Ramey and our conservation partners from the Gunnison Public Lands Initiative for a guided hike around Pilot Knob on Saturday, July 25. We’ll hike through rolling aspen forests, wildflowers, and old sheepherder graffiti.
Drilling company Petrox has proposed to drill and frack 50 new gas wells in this beautiful roadless area of dense aspen forest. Get a feel for this amazing location and see where the gas wells are proposed by looking at this PowerPoint slide show.
This is an approximately 6 mile, easy to moderate round-trip hike. Be prepared for a full day of hiking. Don’t forget to bring comfortable boots, extra layers, sunscreen, plenty of water, and a lunch and snacks!
If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to Jim at chc.director@gmail.com or click here to RSVP and invite others via Facebook. A carpool will leave from Paonia at 8:00 am sharp from BackCountry Bistro (210 3rd St.).
