Video: Interview With Former Oil Worker Shows Industry’s Disastrous Impacts

January 30, 2014 –

In the short-film, “Fracking in the Land of Lincoln,” Greenpeace interviews Steve Combs, who now has to haul usable water to his home.

Steve’s well water was ruined by a leaky wastewater disposal well, which oil and gas companies use to permanently “dispose” of ruined water after a well is drilled and fracked to produce oil or gas.

“It just boils down to, we’re destroying our country day by day, just little by little,” Steve says.

Even with a better funded state regulator in Illinois, residents are concerned that minuscule fines won’t be enough to protect them from the many well documented negative impacts of the industry.
