SAVE THE NORTH FORK VALLEY WATERSHED FROM ANOTHER MASSIVE SEISMIC TESTING PROJECT WITH POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC IMPACT
COMMENT DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 7, 2018!

Gunnison Energy is proposing another massive, 14,000-acre 3D seismic mapping project just northeast of the Town of Paonia in the Turner Creek and Clear Fork watersheds, in the northern portion of the North Fork Mancos Master Development Project. The proposed project area overlaps with two inventoried Colorado Roadless Areas, and contains winter elk habitat and cutthroat trout habitat.

The Proposal involves both a 2D and 3D project. The 2D project could start as early as January 2019, and the 3D project as early as summer of 2019. This project is directly connected to the Iron Point seismic project also proposed by Gunnison Energy.

The 2D project is located entirely within Gunnison County, mostly on public lands, with some privately owned lands involved. The 3D project overlaps with Delta County, and also involves mostly public, with some private lands.

The USFS is seeking comments on the proposal. The  comment deadline is December 7, 2018.

The proposal and associated USFS maps are available here.
