The Thompson Divide and the North Fork Valley unique ecosystems, public lands, wildlife, water resources, biodiversity, agriculture, and recreation can be protected from oil and gas leasing over the next 20 years.
A 20-year administrative withdrawal is being proposed in the Thompson Divide Area of approximately 224,793.73 acres, including National Forest System lands, BLM- managed public lands, and Federal mineral interest from future oil and gas leasing. This administrative withdrawal will protect headwaters of the Gunnison River Basin and dependent agricultural, ranching, wildlife, air quality, recreational, ecological, and scenic values. A portion of the upper North Fork Valley in Gunnison County is included in the proposed withdrawal.
The Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Service need to hear from you that you support this administrative withdrawal.
