DELTA COUNTY NEEDS LOCAL CONTROL OVER

OIL AND GAS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY

On July 31, Delta County posted notice in the Delta County Independent for a public hearing on September 3rd, 2019 where the County Commissioners will consider repealing all of Delta County’s oil and gas regulations. The County’s intention is to make oil and gas activity an exempt activity, throwing away our local authority over oil and gas exploration and development activities and relying totally on State regulators.

Delta County knows its current oil and gas regulations are outdated and poorly written – they invite uncertainty, the performance standards are inconsistent and uneven, and some vital resources are only protected in certain subsections and not others. This is because the regulations were drafted under a cloud of state preemption.

Their proposed solution to this problem is extreme and unnecessary. Sign this letter opposing Delta County’s dangerous proposal to waive its local authority to regulate oil and gas activity and protect its citizens.

Please submit the following letter to Delta County Commissioners. Filling out the form below will submit the included comment letter directly to the Delta County Commissioners. Thank you for your support!
