Great News! BLM Will Prepare a Full Environmental Impact Statement on the Bull Mountain Master Development Plan

August 2, 2012 – The Bureau of Land Management, Uncompahgre Field Office, is planning to prepare a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for SG Interests’ proposed Bull Mountain Master Development Plan. The Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS should be published by September.

This is great news, because the plan calls for 150 new wells, 4 waste water disposal wells, two compressor stations, and other associated infrastructure along Highway 133 near McClure Pass.  This proposal will have significant impacts on the North Fork Valley, and conducting an in-depth analysis through preparation of an EIS will better inform BLM’s decision on the proposal.

Citizens for a Healthy Community has advocated for the BLM to analyze all impacts resulting from this proposed development, including indirect and cumulative impacts, in an EIS.  According to the BLM, the impact to air quality was the main reason why they will prepare a full EIS.
