If you have always been curious about understanding the North Fork Valley through the lens of geology and why it is both attractive and risky for fracking, join us July 17th for the kick-off to 3-part geology workshop series.
— John McPhee
Karina Allison (known to locals as “Cienaga”) is a geologist, and more specifically a volcanologist. She has a unique perspective on North Fork Valley geology and how it shapes this special place. This is a 3-part series. in Part 1, starting this Thursday, July 17, Karina will ground us in understanding the geology, geologic hazards, and the science of hydraulic fracturing. CHC Executive Director, Natasha Leger will also provide an update on the state of oil and gas activity in the North Fork Valley. In Part 2, on July 31st, you will experience this knowledge first hand in a geology tour of the North Fork. The 3rd part of the series will end (date TBD) with an interactive participatory challenge to identify specific geohazardous areas that merit protection.
