CHC Has Open Board Positions!

Do you want to join the fight to protect our community? The Citizens for a Healthy Community (CHC) has two open board positions.   CHC is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, which has a working Board of Directors who oversees our ongoing battle to protect the Delta County region against irresponsible gas and oil drilling. The national energy picture is changing very rapidly. In just the last few weeks, the unit price of natural gas has dropped to under $2.00 and the Keystone Pipeline has been defeated. “Leave it in the ground!”, a strong national movement to stop gas and oil drilling has emerged. It is an exciting time to join the Board – the challenges are many. You can help craft the future of the organization, as we are beginning our strategic planning process in December.

Being a Board member of CHC is a great way to increase your commitment to clean air, water, soils and food, and is a great way to further serve your community. CHC asks Board members to help with fundraising, devote an average of 4-5 hours a month to attending meetings, help set the organizational direction, and represent CHC within the community, region and State. We especially need farmers, ranchers, vintners, business people, artists, scientists, hunters and fisherman, experts in natural resource planning and development, and others with financial, communications, community outreach, legal, and economic development skills, who live in the Delta County region.

CHC has a process for Board member selection. If you are interested please contact me at 970-270-8692 or via email at john@citizensforahealthycommunity.org with a brief statement of your interest and bio. The current Board reviews the applications, and will conduct direct interviews. We encourage the final applicants to attend a Board meeting or other CHC meetings and get a feel for the organization. Finally, the Board votes on the applicants and the new members officially join the Board.

We look forward to hearing from you!
