Action Alert: Tell Gov. Hickenlooper to Protect Clean Air

November 13, 2013 –

Dirty air from the oil and gas industry threatens the quality of life in Colorado, our agricultural operations, and public health.

But Colorado has the opportunity to do some real good by enacting tough new air quality rules in the coming months. Unfortunately, the first draft of the rules from Gov. Hickenlooper’s administration is just more of the same old “empty rhetoric.”

Please take a moment to tell Gov. Hickenlooper that Coloradans demand clean air and that he needs to follow through on his promises for zero tolerance on methane emissions.

Send your comments to the Governor via email at cdphe.aqcc-comments@state.co.us and see below for some suggested talking points for your comments.

Sample email text below:

Dear Governor Hickenlooper,

In the coming months Colorado has the chance to combat climate change and clean up our air.  As a Coloradan that enjoys the clean air and wealth of outdoor opportunities this state has to offer, I ask you to support strong clean air safeguards that will protect Coloradans public health and strengthen Colorado’s leadership in fighting climate change.

As oil and gas development continues to expand, Colorado needs strong rules that keep our air clean and reduce impacts on our climate.
I support your “zero tolerance” for methane pollution.

Now is the time to make that a reality.

Thank you,
