09 Dec BLM plans to lease 22 parcels/30,000 acres surrounding Crawford, Paonia & Hotchkiss

Last December, BLM announced plans to lease 22 oil and gas parcels totaling 30,000 acres in the North Fork Valley.

CHC is taking all possible actions to have these parcels withdrawn from leasing.

Our mission is to protect the people and environment in our community from irresponsible gas and oil development, and we believe that leasing 30,000 acres in the backyard of Paonia, Hotchkiss, and Crawford is a direct threat to our clean air and water.

The Uncompahgre Field Office will evaluate parcels near Paonia, Hotchkiss, Somerset and Crawford. Approximately 30,000 acres are nominated of which approximately 900 acres are private surface with the remainder located on federal surface lands.  Map of the parcels and other information can be found here
